    Revenue Rise? Just Wishful Thinking

    The claim by industry consultant Mike Moebs that overdraft revenue is "rising from the ashes" (CU Journal, Sept. 26) appears more wishful thinking than reality. Our national survey shows most consumers don't want high-cost bank overdrafts. And most of the one-in-three customers who do sign up for it do so because they either misunderstand what they're getting or want banks to stop badgering them to enroll.

    Real Plan, Or Blowing Smoke?

    A Credit Union Journal article "Matz Outlines Several New Regulatory Proposals" really only talked about one new regulation and, in my humble opinion, it was a joke. So NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz is trying to make loan participation originators keep 5% of the loan to: 1. Make them more responsible; and 2. Keep future losses from having a major impact on credit unions that do participations as it as it did when the economy collapsed.
