LAKELAND, Fla. – Three weeks after announcing their nuptials, MidFlorida FCU and Sarasota Coastal CU called of the marriage, one of three large mergers pending among the state’s troubled credit unions.

WARRENVILLE, Ill. – Members United Corporate FCU, struggling with huge losses on its investments, said yesterday it is closing down its Members Health Network CUSO for lack of funding.

WASHINGTON – In a victory for credit unions, the Senate is expected to vote passage tomorrow of a bill helping NCUA and credit unions to finance the costs of the corporate credit union bailout–which is expected to be separated from the so-called cramdown provision that would allow troubled homeowners to ask a bankruptcy court to restructure their mortgage.

MINNEAPOLIS – Fair Isaac & Co., the maker of the ubiquitous FICO credit score, reported a strong fiscal second quarter, with net income surging 31% to $17.7 million for the period, after a restructuring that pared a fourth of its workforce last year.
