MALVERN, Penn.-Software solutions firm Akcelerant has picked up 26 credit union customers over the past six months. Many of those credit unions have signed on to use more than one solution, the company reported. The firm projects that growth to continue through the end of the year and into 2009.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-Xtend, Inc., a multi-owned cooperative CUSO recently began construction of its new headquarters. The new facility will bring all 23 full and part-time employees together for the first time.

MURRIETA, Calif.-CUTEK, a financial technology consulting firm for credit unions using Symitar's Episys core processing system has assisted Family Security and ORNL Federal credit unions integrating their Episys systems with other core systems from credit unions with which they are merging. CUTEK has helped Family Security merge twice, the first taking only 45 days, while the most recent merger process is estimated to last only 30 days.

BROOKFIELD, Wis.-Fiserv has signed four new credit union clients and will transition three clients to a different Fiserv core system. NCI Community Development, Menominee Area, Bluebonnet and Millstream Area credit unions all signed first-time contracts for various products while First Castle Federal, United Energy and Pasadena Service Federal are all upgrading from their current Fiserv solutions.

MINNEAPOLIS-After creating a checklist for financial institutions, Wolters Kluwer Financial Services is taking its "Red Flag Rules" tool kit straight to vehicle dealerships that participate in indirect lending programs. According to the firm, the kit for dealerships includes a Red Flags user guide, which explains the first steps in building an identify theft prevention program, as well as a Red Flags manual that provides an overview of the Red Flag Rules, examples of Red Flags and how they apply to a dealer's business.

DALLAS-Zix Corporation and Code Green Networks have collaborated to produce an integrated data loss prevention based email encryption solution. The application provides DLP across network channels with encryption service to secure sensitive e-mail information. Based on an organization's needs, the companies offer two different tightly integrated solutions for delivering DLP-based encryption. In both cases, a Code Green Content Inspection Appliance is deployed at the organization's gateway to inspect all network traffic and enforce policy-based encryption on outgoing email.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.-Thanks to a technicality in the law, SRP FCU here is no longer allowing its parking lot to be used to show cars for sale on weekends. The lot at the CU's Southside office had been filled with vehicles, including motorcycles and boats, all bearing For Sale signs. But the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles has put the brakes on the operation, citing state law in which financing can not be available at the place a vehicle is being sold unless taking place at a dealership. The credit union is not licensed as a dealer.

NEWARK, N.J.-The federal bankruptcy court named seven credit union managers to the unsecured creditors' committee for CU National Mortgage/US Mortgage Corp., which apparently only did business with CUs.

WASHINGTON-While its prospects may be dim, a bill in Congress to cap credit cards APRs has been dropped, with its sponsor citing credit unions' ability to offer lower-rate loans as a counter to bank complains that such a limit will much lending unprofitable.
