Rago named Detroit budget director.

Edward Rago was appointed by Mayor Coleman Young of Detroit as the city's budget director on Nov. 22.

Mr. Rago replaced Walter Stecher, who retired after 29 years as budget director, according to Teresa Blossom, a spokeswoman for the mayor.

After joining Detroit's budget department as a senior analyst in 1964, Mr. Rago went on to hold other positions in the department, including assistant budget director from 1984 to 1990. He most recently had been the city's deputy finance director.
