Bank of Boston Corp. said John L. Waxlax has become president and general manager of its Bank of Boston Canada unit in Montreal. He is also president of Boston Factors of Canada Inc., a subsidiary of the Montreal bank.

Mr. Waxlax, who was also named a member of the bank's board of directors, succeeds Peter L. Griswold, who returns to the parent's bank's Boston headquarters to assume a senior lending position.

Mr. Waxlax had been senior credit officer at Bank of Boston Canada. He has been replaced in the posts by Patrick J. OKeeffe, who was appointed senior credit officer, senior vice president, and a director.

Shawmut National Corp. has appointed Mary B. DeLoache senior vice president and senior credit training officer.

Middle Atlantic

Citizens First National Bank of New Jersey, Glen Rock, said William H. Osborn 3d has joined as a vice president in the corporate banking department, serving Morris County.

Mr. Osborn was previously with National Westminster Bank N.J. as a regional vice president.

Citizens First also announced that James M. O'Brien had joined as a vice president in the residential mortgage department.

Commerzbank AG has appointed Andreas R. Schmidt executive vice president and co-manager of its New York branch. The bank is based in Frankfurt.

Mr. Achmidt succeeds Klaus M. Patig, who has been named managing director of the bank's Berlin subsidiary, Berliner Commerzbank AG.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has named D. Blake Prichard senior vice president of check operations.

He was formerly vice president of check services at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Mr. Prichard will be responsible for all divisions within the check operations department. Check processing is the largest single operation within the bank, clearing more than four million checks each day.

Meridian Bancorp, Reading, Pa., has named George W. Millward executive vice president of the company's finance and control unit, a new post.

He had been managing associated in the financial management and analysis group in the Boston office of Coopers & Lybrand, the accounting firm.

United Jersey Bank, Hackensack, N.J., a subsidiary of UJB Financial Corp., has appointed Joseph P. Copko as vice president, business development, in the investment management division and John A. Falcone and Bruce A. Gray as vice presidents in the wholesale banking division.

Southeast

Fleet Finance Inc., Atlanta, a subsidiary of Fleet Financial Group Inc., Providence, R.I., has appointed John B. Stanforth as senior vice president of finance and Walter J. Werchanowskyj as vice president and controller.
