BIRMINGHAM., Ala. -- Amsouth Bancorp. said the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has approved its proposed acquisition of Mid-State Federal Savings Bank, Ocala, Fla.
The FDIC approval was the last remaining hurdle for the transaction, in which Mid-State will merge into Amsouth Bank of Florida. The companies expect to close the transaction by mid-December.
