In an effort to attract back-to-school shoppers, Visa U.S.A. has teamed with Toys R Us Inc.to offer a scholarship sweepstakes.
Visa said it expects its sales volume in the stores to rise 20% during the promotion. Another objectives is to promote education, the card association said.
A total of $40,000 will be awarded during the six-week sweepstakes, which runs through Sept. 13.
Automatic Entry
The program will be advertised throughout the chain. Shoppers automatically enter the sweepstakes each time they use a Visa Card at any of the 538 stores.
Winners can use scholarship awards, which will range from $1,000 to $20,000, to help pay for elementary, high school, college, or continuing-education programs.
