Chairman of Minneapolis' National City to be CEO.

MINNEAPOLIS -- National City Bank said that chairman of the board David Andreas will also serve as the bank's president and chief executive officer, replacing Walter "Bud" Meadley Jr., who retired.

The bank also said board member David Malmberg will become chairman.

He was elected chairman of the board of the holding company in 1987 and was appointed chairman of the board of National City Bank in 1991.

Mr. Meadley, 62, joined National City Bank in 1970 as vice president. He subsequently served as executive vice president and chief operating officer before being named president in 1985 and CEO in 1991.

Mr. Malmberg, 51, has been a National City Bank director since 1990.

With assets of more than $500 million, National City Bank is the sixth-largest bank in the Twin Cities, serving primarily local small and midsize companies.
