B of A Arizona eases loans for disabled.

PHOENIX -- Bank of America Arizona has announced a specialized loan program for people with disabilities.

The BankAmerica Corp. unit said it is offering auto, home equity, and unsecured personal loans with longer-than-standard terms and lower minimum repayment amounts.

"The most common problem faced by people with disabilities is transportation and mobility," said Kathryn L. Munro, president of the Arizona bank. "Our loan program provides financing for such needs as adding access ramps or installing lifts in a home, retrofitting or purchasing a van or automobile for operation by a person with a disability, and purchasing motorized wheelchairs and related adaptive equipment."

The bank will make a single loan to cover the cost of a vehicle and any retrofitting of equipment to help the disabled driver.
