1st Chicago unit puts up $15M for deals.

CHICAGO -- First Chicago Equity Capital announced investments totaling $15 million in two acquisition financings.

The First Chicago Corp. investment unit placed $5 million in Central States Network LP, to help finance the acquisition of seven radio stations in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The company also invested more than $10 million to support the acquisition of Garrett Aviation Services by its management from Allied Signal Inc.

The transactions are typical of the $4 million to $15 million middle-market investments sought by First Chicago Equity Capital, said Larry Fox, senior vice president and head of the group.
