Capital briefs: LaWare Joins Secura As Vice Chairman

WASHINGTON - Former Federal Reserve System Governor John P. LaWare has joined the Secura Group as vice chairman.

Mr. LaWare, who retired April 30 from the central bank, will help Secura's bank and thrift clients make strategic decisions on such issues as acquisitions and product offerings.

Drawing from his nearly seven years on the Federal Reserve Board, Mr. LaWare also will help foreign institutions operating in this country comply with U.S. regulations.

"John has been in this business for 42 years," said Secura's chairman and chief executive, William M. Isaac. "He'll be a strategic adviser to our clients."

Mr. LaWare's tenure at the Fed capped a career in banking. He spent 25 years with Chemical Bank in New York, leaving in 1978 to head Shawmut Corp. in Boston.

Mr. LaWare will work out of Secura's Boston office as well as his home in Sea Island, Ga.
