Roundup: United of Kentucky Sold to National City

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Shareholders of United Bancorp of Kentucky have approved its merger into National City Corp., United said.

United had $625 million of assets.

The merger, which became effective July 1, increases National City's deposit market share in the Lexington area to 13% from 8%, ranking it second.

The bank subsidiaries and 29 branches of United will be consolidated into National City Bank, Kentucky.

National City Corp., based in Cleveland, has $33 billion of assets. It operates banks and other financial subsidiaries principally in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
