Card briefs: Colo. Grocery Chain Taking MAC, Pulse

DENVER - King Soopers, a Colorado supermarket chain, has begun accepting MAC and Pulse automated teller machine cards for debit point of sale purchases.

Customers can also use their cards to get cash back when making a purchase with Pulse or MAC at 68 supermarket locations.

Pulse Pay is an on-line point of sale debit program, operated by Pulse EFT Association, a Houston-based regional electronic banking network that operates throughout the Southwest. Pulse boasts more than 23,000 Pulse Pay merchant terminals, and point of sale volume represents 18% of the network's total transaction volume.

The MAC network, operated by Money Access Service Inc., a subsidiary of Wilmington, Del.-based Electronic Payment Services Inc., says it has 18,200 ATMs and 150,000 POS terminals in 34 states.
