Thrift Notes: S&Ls Urged to Aid Calif. Flood Victims

WASHINGTON - The Office of Thrift Supervision has urged thrifts to respond to the floods in California with compassion for their customers.

The OTS recently urged institutions to restructure sound borrowers' loans, consider waiving fees for late payments and early withdrawals, assess their community's credit needs, and to take advantage of available disaster relief programs.
