Money market mutual fund assets jumped $1.79 billion last week to reach $740.09 billion.

For the week ending last Thursday, assets of the nation's retail money market funds increased by $1.51 billion to $521 billion, according to the Investment Company Institute, a Washington-based trade group representing the fund industry.
Taxable retail funds rose by $913 million during the week to hit $419.39 billion, while tax-exempt funds increased by $597 million to reach $101.62 billion.
Institutional funds increased by $286.9 million to hit $220.88 billion.
Among those funds, assets in taxable portfolios grew by $758 million to $196 billion and tax-exempt funds fell by $471 million to level off at $24.7 billion.
