Card briefs: Omaha Vendor Wins Role in China Project

OMAHA - Applied Communications Inc. said its Base24 transaction processing software has been licensed for one of the regional gold card projects in China.

The licensee, Dalian Credit Card Network Co., will use the software in Dalian, one of the 12 gold card project pilot cities. The company will launch the first shared network of automated teller machines and point of sale terminals in the area, which is in the northern province of Liaoning.

The local credit and debit card network will eventually allow access to the international MasterCard and Visa systems.
