Card briefs: Seafirst Dispensing Prepaid Phone Cards

SEATTLE - Seafirst Bank has begun dispensing prepaid telephone cards at some of its automated teller machines.

Users of the BankAmerica Corp. unit's Versatellers can obtain a card good for 30 minutes of long distance calls on the MCI network for $9.99, recorded as a debit transaction.

The initial ATMs with the cards are in Everett, Bellevue, Seattle-Tacoma airport, and Seattle. Others in Vancouver, Wash., and eastern Washington will be added in late February.

Like most prepaid phone cards, Seafirst's do not carry stored value. Customers call an 800 number for system access, and they are told how many minutes are remaining.

Seafirst machines also sell postage stamps, bus passes in the Seattle area, and gift certificates in some malls.
