Atlantic Bank Names Executives

Atlantic Bank of New York promoted David S. Slackman and Robert J. Tolomer to executive vice president, named a senior vice president and two vice presidents.

Mr. Slackman is head of the consumer business group, and Mr. Tolomer is chief credit and compliance officer.

Michael D. Protono, director of human resources, was promoted to senior vice president from vice president. He joined the bank in 1993.

Promoted to vice president were Androniki Dafnos, manager of the bank's Maiden Lane office, and Flaviano T. Sabater Jr., assistant auditor. Mrs. Dafnos joined the bank in 1978; Mr. Sabater, in 1985.

Mr. Slackman joined the bank in May 1994 as senior vice president to help manage the consumer business units, which include the branch system, consumer lending, mortgage origination, and marketing. His focus has been on building a sales culture, improving the marketing process, and enhancing the business units' profitability.

Mr. Tolomer has been with Atlantic Bank since September 1992 as senior vice president and chief credit officer. Since then, he has become chief compliance officer and corporate secretary.

He also took strategic initiatives in developing policies and processes covering internal control and regulatory compliance programs bankwide. And he helped design and install the bank's Community Reinvestment Act program.
