Card Briefs: B of A Is Expanding Phoenix Card Facility

PHOENIX - Bank of America announced an agreement with the City of Phoenix to expand its credit card operations at an industrial site near Sky Harbor Airport.

The BankAmerica Corp. unit plans to add a fifth building to its existing complex. The 150,000-square-foot structure will have the capacity for about 1,100 employees.

The bank said it expects to complete the structure by the end of 1995, with initial plans to add up to 600 new credit card jobs to accommodate account growth.

The existing four buildings, totaling 400,000 square feet on 22 acres, have 1,800 employees servicing seven million accounts.

"We're pleased to be expanding our presence in Arizona to accommodate the growth of our credit card business," said Bank of America Arizona chairman and chief executive officer David S. Hanna. "Arizona has a very good business environment, and we are especially grateful to the City of Phoenix officials for their continued support."

Bank of America moved into the city-owned, 550-acre Sky Harbor Center complex in 1991. Other tenants include Allied Signal, Wyle Laboratories, Caterair, and several car rental agencies.
