Tech bytes: Video Service Augments Journal's Web Offerings

Dow Jones Investor Network, a video news service that is transmitted directly to desktop computers, announced this week that it is now providing content for The Wall Street Journal's World Wide Web site on the Internet.

Selected video and audio news stories are now available via the Journal's Money and Investing Update on the Internet.

Dow Jones officials said the integration of audio and video information with text culled from the daily financial newspaper is the first step to capitalize on the World Wide Web's multimedia capabilities.

"Providing The Wall Street Journal's Interactive Edition with video and audio content is something that makes sense for Dow Jones as well as its customers," said Martin Schenker, managing editor of Dow Jones Investor Network. "When Dow Jones Investor Network is covering something that the Interactive Edition is writing about, packaging both stories together gives the customer more information and makes Dow Jones' products more competitive."
