Card Briefs: BankAtlantic Putting ATMs on 4 Cruise Ships

BankAtlantic Bancorp, the parent company of Fort Lauderdale-based BankAtlantic, has agreed to install satellite-driven automated teller machines aboard four ships in the Celebrity Cruises fleet.

The ATMs will be operated by an affiliate of BankAtlantic, which said the installation is expected to be completed during the first quarter.

ATM cards will be processed via the Honor System, which also provides gateway service to other regional card networks. American Express cards will be accepted by the shipboard ATMs.

Cruise passengers will be able to make cash withdrawals, obtain balances on their checking and savings accounts, and transfer funds between accounts while a ship is at sea or in port.
