Card Briefs: Order Processing Tool For MasterCard Upgraded

Gateway 2000 said it has upgraded its order processing system to benefit companies in the MasterCard Purchasing Card program.

Gateway said it is the first personal computer manufacturer designated a Level II supplier by MasterCard. To companies using the purchasing card, Gateway captures and transmits information that helps streamline payables management and accounting.

The enhancements relate to "critical information such as sales tax amounts, accounting codes, and purchase descriptors with card transactions," said Bill Shea, vice president of major account sales at Gateway 2000. "This enables our corporate customers to reduce the time and cost of traditional purchase and payment procedures."

Gateway 2000 was responding to requests from major companies and government agencies "committed to reengineering their accounts payable and purchasing procedures," Mr. Shea said.
