In Brief: Fannie Mae's Loan Purchases Dipped in July

Fannie Mae purchased $5.3 billion of mortgages in July, compared with $5.4 billion in June.

Its net mortgage portfolio grew by $2.4 billion in July, to $271.6 billion. That amounted to annualized growth of 10.6%, compared with 12% in June.

The net interest margin on the mortgage portfolio increased by 1 basis point, to 128 basis points in July.

Total mortgage-backed securities outstanding increased by $5.1 billion in July to reach $626.4 billion, a 9.9% annualized growth rate.
