Money Fund Assets Increased in Week

Assets of the nation's 663 retail money market funds increased by $2 billion in the week ended Oct. 2, to $587.09 billion, the Investment Company Institute reported.

Assets of the 407 taxable retail money market funds grew by $990.4 million, to $478.89 billion. Those in 256 tax-exempt funds increased by $1 billion, to $108.20 billion.

In the institutional category, assets of the nation's 307 money market funds increased by $6.99 billion, to $269.28 billion. Those of the 244 taxable institutional money market funds grew by $5.61 billion, to $240.03 billion; assets of the 63 tax-exempt funds in the institutional category grew by $1.37 billion, to $29.25 billion.

In all, money market mutual fund assets totaled $856.37 billion on Oct. 2, up from $847.39 billion a week earlier.
