Short Takes: California Start-Ups In Trust Arrangement

Two start-up banks in California's Silicon Valley have agreed to share clients to pitch trust offerings.

Under the agreement, Heritage Bank of Commerce will refer its banking clients to Enterprise Trust and Investment Co.'s trust officers.

Heritage Bank of Commerce, a $132 million-asset bank in San Jose, was founded a year and a half ago to serve small businesses.

Enterprise, launched in September in the San Jose suburb of Los Gatos, has $100 million in trust assets under management, mainly institutional.

Heritage's business customers can get institutional trust services, such as pension fund administration, from Enterprise.

In addition, Heritage account holders can be referred to the trust company for personal estate needs.
