In Brief: Evans Wins 3d Term At Swaps Group's Helm

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association elected Gay Evans to a third term as chairman of the trade group.

A member of the board since 1990, Ms. Evans is a managing director of Bankers Trust International in London.

Goldman Sachs & Co. partner, Thomas Montag, was elected vice chairman of the organization.

Hannah Sorscher, a vice president in the derivatives unit at Citicorp, was elected treasurer. And Douglas Bongartz-Renaud, a senior vice president in fixed-income and derivatives at ABN Amro Bank in Amsterdam, was named secretary.

The organization elected four new members to its 19-member board, including Stephen Greene, general counsel with Credit Suisse Financial Products in London; Mark Haedicke, managing director and general counsel with Houston-based Enron Capital and Trade Resources Corp.; Charles Smithson, managing director of CIBC Wood Gundy in New York; and John Mark Yallop, chief operating officer of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell's global markets division in London.

Besides Ms. Evans and Mr. Bongartz-Renaud, four others were reelected to the board: Andrew Bloomfield, managing director and co-head of capital markets origination with SBC Warburg in London; Brian Crow, senior vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank in London; Ernest Goodrich Jr., managing director with Merrill Lynch in New York; and Heinrich Linz, senior manager of Dresdner Bank in Frankfurt.

Returning board members include elected officers and the following: Yoshitaka Akamatsu, chief manager of derivatives at Mitsubishi Bank in Tokyo; Joseph Bauman, senior vice president and global director with Bank of America in San Francisco; and Mark Brickell, managing director with J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York;

Also returning are Carolyn Jackson, the trade group's executive director in New York; Yasumasa Nishi, senior manager with Industrial Bank of Japan in Tokyo; Geoffroy Sartorius, senior vice president and head of finance and interest rate derivatives at Banque Nationale de Paris; and Zachary Snow, managing director with Salomon Brothers in New York.
