Short Takes: Fidelity Eases Access To Overseas Stocks

Fidelity Investments is making it easier for its best brokerage customers to buy stock in overseas companies.

The Boston-based firm announced improved foreign securities trading through its Spartan Brokerage service, dedicated to customers who make 40 or more trades a year.

"Our Spartan customers are probably our most sophisticated customers, and with that sophistication come greater knowledge and interest in international markets," said Donna M. Morris, senior vice president with Fidelity Brokerage Services.

A dedicated team of a half-dozen brokers experienced with international securities is being supported with consolidated trading from Intrex, a capital markets trading arm created last year.

Ms. Morris said Fidelity plans to expand the service to the all brokerage customers later this year.
