Card Briefs: B of A Wins Texas Purchasing Card Contract

BankAmerica Corp. has been selected by the General Services Commission of Texas to provide purchasing card services.

The commission, which manages the awarding of state contracts to businesses, said it plans to make the card available to more than 240 state agencies and municipalities.

The Bank of America unit began issuing purchasing cards, which offer an electronic method of procuring small-ticket goods and services, in September 1994. The bank now has more than 150 purchasing card customers, including corporations and government agencies.
