Capital Briefs: Release of Treasury's Credit Union Study Delayed

The release of the congressionally mandated Treasury Department study on credit unions has been postponed until late October or early November, according to industry sources. The agency missed the Sept. 30 deadline Congress set in the 1996 thrift bailout law.

"We hope to be completed with the study soon and then to communicate those findings to the members of Congress," a Treasury spokesman said. He refused to provide a target date.
