Card Briefs: MBNA Cards to Carry Photos of NFL Players

MBNA Corp., issuer of the National Football League Visa card, is offering cards with images of famous football players.

Through an arrangement with the NFL Quarterback Club, a seven-year-old organization that promotes licensing programs for star players, MBNA's cards display color action pictures of John Elway of the Denver Broncos, Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers, Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions, and Steve Young of the San Francisco 49ers.

MBNA started its NFL Visa credit card program in the fall of 1995. More than 1.2 million fans have signed up for cards showing either the NFL shield or team logos.

"We're very pleased to be expanding our program with the NFL," said John Cochran, MBNA senior vice chairman. "The Quarterback Club brings together in one brand four of the most popular and dedicated athletes in all of sports."
