Tech Bytes: Small Ark. Bank to Use An M&I Core System

Heartland Community Bank of Camden, Ark., said it will install a client/server core banking system from M&I Data Services' M&I Eastpoint affiliate.

The system is expected to be in operation at all five branches by mid- October.

The installation will replace an outsourcer and provide year-2000 compliance and more advanced features, said Cameron McKeel, the bank's executive vice president.

"Customers often requested services such as combined statements and analysis of business checking accounts," Mr. McKeel said. "We needed a more flexible solution to help us accommodate their requests. We also wanted to charge for services based on the customer's relationship with the bank, benefiting both the bank and its customers."
