Card Briefs: Amex Payment Favored At Microsoft Travel Site

Microsoft Corp.'s on-line travel booking service, Expedia.com, has made the American Express card its preferred payment option.

Microsoft and American Express Co. have undertaken other Internet collaborations, including an on-line reservations system for corporations. American Express is also a member of the Expedia Associates program, which links participating travel-related Web sites.

The Expedia site helps consumers plan travel, buy tickets, and make hotel and car reservations. Its weekly travel sales exceed $5 million, according to Microsoft.

Simon Breakwell, Microsoft group product manager, said Expedia.com visitors will be able to link directly to the card application page on the American Express Web site.
