The Chase Manhattan Corp. has created a Web tool called Workspace to give its treasury and investment customers access to their accounts and some transactional capability.

Workspace allows customers to conduct payment, wire transfers and ACH transactions as well as view their end-of-day accounts. Versions due later this year will give clients access to securities reports and other account information on a near real-time basis. Customers will also be able to retrieve third-party decision support data.

The tool is the first of what Chase plans to be a wave of products using Web architecture distributed through a virtual private network. The bank's intent is to migrate most of the its Insight treasury system to Workspace.
