Short Takes: NationsBank Names 12 For Private-Client Unit

NationsBank Corp.'s private-client group announced the appointments of 10 city managers and two product specialists in Florida.

The private-client group of the Charlotte, N.C., banking company has expanded as a result of its acquisitions of Barnett Banks Inc., Jacksonville, Fla., and Boatmen's Bancshares, St. Louis. It now has about $70 billion under management in more than 70 offices.

Last month it named a new division president, Adelaide A. Sink, and decided the unit's main offices would be in Jacksonville, Fla., and St. Louis. Before the two acquisitions, NationsBank's private-client group had been based in Atlanta.

Seven of the 10 city managers are former Barnett area managers. They are: Tyson Betty, Clearwater; Jeff Botsford, Sarasota; Karen Dann, Ocala; Paula Hundt, Treasure Coast; David McShane, Naples; James "Mick" Novata, Pensacola; and Teresa Wood, Jacksonville.

They are joined by Sam Fisher, Beth Knowles, and Julie Wolfe of the old NationsBank who are private-client city managers in Boca Raton, St. Petersburg, and Winter Park, respectively.

NationsBank also named Alex Montague, a former Barnett private-client sales director, to be investment management specialist, a post straddling the private-client group and NationsBank Investments Inc. in Jacksonville. Also, Tyler V. Grady, a former commercial sales executive for NationsBank, was appointed senior private lending consultant for Florida.
