In Brief: Prudential Names Head of Health Investments

Prudential Securities Inc. said last week that it hired Anne T. Kavanagh as a managing director and head of its health-care investment banking group.

Ms. Kavanagh joins Prudential from Salomon Smith Barney, where she co- headed health-care investment banking and was a managing director in capital markets.

At Prudential she will focus on assisted living, long-term care companies, medical technology, health care REITS, PPM's, andbiotech/pharmaceuticals. Ms. Kavanagh will report to Paul Scura, managing director and head of Prudential Securities' investment bank.

Before joining Salomon, Ms. Kavanagh was president and chief executive of Natwest Securities, where she spent two years managing its U.S. equity effort. Before that, she spent four years as the head of its capital markets syndicate, which she founded.

Before that, Ms. Kavanagh worked for seven years at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. as an executive vice president of the syndicate and capital markets.
