Fleet's 2 New Funds Bring Its Family to 30

Fleet Financial Group Inc. has created two mutual funds, bringing its proprietary Galaxy family to 30 funds, it said last week.

The new portfolios are the Galaxy Strategic Equity and New Jersey Municipal Bond funds.

The bond fund, managed by Daniel Rabasco since its April 1 opening, targets affluent residents of New Jersey, which Fleet entered when it acquired the U.S. banking business of National Westminster Bank in 1996. The Strategic Equity Fund, launched March 1, is managed by Peter B. Hathaway. It takes positions in 300 to 400 large and mid-cap stocks represented in the S&P 500 index.
