Compass Hires Retail Chief for Arizona Bank Bought Last Year

Compass Bancshares of Birmingham, Ala., has hired former Bank of America executive Key Campbell as the first statewide retail banking executive of its newly acquired Arizona Bank.

Mr. Campbell, 51, was also named senior vice president of the 45-branch bank. He will oversee the statewide delivery of retail deposit, loan, and investment products.

The bank is based in Tucson, but Mr. Campbell will be based in Phoenix.

Compass bought Arizona Bank, with 29 branches, in December. In April it added 15 former Norwest branches, purchased from Wells Fargo Bank. And recently it opened a new branch.

Mr. Campbell brings more than 30 years of retail and international banking experience to Arizona Bank. He was a senior vice president at Bank of America, whose Dallas retail district he established after managing the Palm Springs, Calif., district. Earlier he worked at Bank of America branches in Singapore, Canada, Greece, and London.
