Card Briefs: Wal-Mart and B of A Extend ATM Contract

Bank of America Corp. has won a three-year renewal of its contract to provide automated teller machine services to Wal-Mart Stores.

Bank of America, which has provided ATM services to Wal-Mart since 1994, maintains 700 machines in more than 30% of Wal-Mart and Sam's Club outlets. The contract calls for 200 additional ATMs in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and North Carolina.

The installations would increase Bank of America's North Carolina ATM network by 23%.

Bank of America is the largest of Wal-Mart's 165 ATM providers, said David McCrary, a vice president and manager at the banking company. At Wal- Mart's annual stockholders meeting in June, Bank of America was named "Best ATM Service Provider for 1998."
