The hybrid readers, the Intellistripe 60 and 65, are described as vandalism-resistant and designed for unattended self-service locations such as pay telephones, vending machines, and automated teller machines.

Mag-Tek said buyers have access to many options but pay for only those they use, such as three-track magnetic card reading, eight or 16 contacts for smart card chips, and a fraud detection system. Both readers are said to be able to handle a minimum of one million operations.
