Gold-Selling "ATM" Comes to America

PMX Communities Inc. has placed its first "Gold to go ATM" kiosk in the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Fla.

The machine vends 0.999-pure Credit Suisse gold bullion bars and U.S. American Eagle gold coins, which are sold at gold prices validated in real time.

It was the Boca Raton company's first U.S. installation. The machines, developed by Ex Oriente Lux AG in Germany, have also been used at a hotel in Dubai.

Michael Hiler, PMX's president and chief executive, said in a press release on Dec. 17 that its deployment is a three-month test and that Ex Oriente Lux is seeking other test markets for its gold-vending machines in the United States.

"We have invested numerous hours of research and work to develop the initial infrastructure and integrate certain aspects of this concept into our business plan," Hiler said in the release.
