Lobby Tracking System Now for iPad

Financial Management Solutions Inc. has announced a version of its Lobby Tracking System for bank branches that runs on Apple Inc.'s iPad.

The system adds a self-service element to branches, allowing customers to sign in electronically for certain branch services. Running it from an iPad allows banks to cut installation costs by 80% compared with a typical kiosk, the Alpharetta, Ga., vendor said.

"Typical installation of a kiosk is cumbersome and costly, requiring a touch screen monitor, a workstation, related signage and the millwork to fabricate the shell of the kiosk," John E. Schneider, FMSI's program manager for the system, said in a press release Monday. "With LTS on the iPad, we have eliminated the custom physical requirements … and are seeing our banking customers get the hardware for their terminals up and running for $1,000 instead of $5,000."

Jearil Crawford, vice president of operations at Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, said in the release that the iPad system demonstrates to members "how readily able we were to adapt and deploy the new technology that is best suited for their requirements."
