Citigroup announced Tuesday that CitiDirect BE Mobile has processed over $1 billion in transaction volume since it launched the service in August.

The service is offered as part of Citi's Global Transaction Services unit. CitiDirect BE Mobile, which is used on mobile smart devices, initially let corporate treasurers receive alerts and authorize payments pending approvals. New features include releasing payments for straight-through processing, and checking account balances and payment status.

"We have more than exceeded our goals in terms of usage, transactions processed and global reach," Naveed Sultan, Global Head of Treasury and Trade Solutions at Citi said in a press release

"As the needs of our clients change, it's important that we are able to provide mobile solutions that allow them to do more and benefit from all the efficiencies that would be available to them at their desk top," Sultan said.

The service is currently available in 80 countries.
