House lawmakers passed a huge agriculture bill Wednesday morning, after political gridlock on key measures like food stamps stalled proceedings for more than two years.

WASHINGTON The Senate is set to vote on a mammoth agricultural bill next Tuesday after two years of intense debate.
The House passed the bill on Wednesday after lawmakers from both chambers reached an agreement on the legislation earlier this week. Senators will vote to end debate on the legislation on Monday evening and if cloture is invoked, the vote on the bill will proceed Tuesday afternoon.
"We are on the verge of achieving major reform," said Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, in a statement after the House vote. "This bill eliminates unnecessary subsidies, creates a more effective farm safety-net and strengthens our commitment to conservation of land and water."
