BBVA Digital Exec Joins PNC

Chad Ballard, who most recently served as BBVA Compass' director of mobility and new digital business technologies, has joined PNC Financial Services Group.

On Aug. 1, Ballard started his new role as the head of the $361 billion-asset Pittsburgh company's retail digital management information systems group.

"Chad is leading our digital technology development team in support of our retail online and mobile customers," a PNC spokesperson said.

At BBVA, Ballard was involved, among other things, in projects related to digital identity and authentication, including a partnership with the digital payments service Dwolla that used a jointly developed authentication and tokenization process called FiSync. The token spared BBVA account holders from having to provide sensitive bank account information or credentials when logging in to Dwolla.

"As the financial industry becomes increasingly digital, the competition for top talent is fierce and we've been fortunate to build a great team," BBVA Compass said in a statement sent to American Banker. "We're grateful for the years that Chad has spent helping us achieve our digital transformation goals, and we wish him well in the future."
