Fiserv to Adopt Fujitsu's Handprint Authentication Tech

Fiserv has agreed to use Fujitsu's handprint-scanning system for fraud prevention in its account-processing product.

Fiserv will integrate the PalmSecure palm vein biometric technology into its DNA product for account processing, according to a July 27 news release. Fujitsu Frontech North America is the maker of PalmSecure. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the agreement.

The PalmSecure product will help Fiserv's bank and credit union customers reduce risk, Steve Cameron, group president of Fiserv's open solutions division, said in the release.

Fiserv will use the enhanced product inside branches to positively identify customers during deposit and withdrawal transactions, when accessing a safe-deposit box or other transactions.
