AgriBank in St. Paul, Minn., is removing "interim" from the title of its chief executive.
The $100 billion-asset bank said in a press release Tuesday that William Thone will take on the role permanently starting Dec. 1. AgriBank is among the largest wholesale banks within the Farm Credit System.
Thone, who once served as the bank's general counsel, became interim CEO in August when Bill York stepped down. Thone, who joined the bank in 1992, began his banking career working in the legal department at the Farm Credit Bank of St. Louis in 1979.
Thone "has provided exemplary leadership during his time as interim CEO," Matt Walther, AgriBank's chairman, said in the release. "We're delighted [he] has accepted the board's offer and look forward to working closely with him."
AgriBank, which is owned by 17 local Farm Credit Associations, primarily provides wholesale lending, risk management and retail bank support. The bank has $82 billion in loans.
