Signature Adds Bankers from Hudson Valley and Valley National

Signature Bank (SBNY) is plucking commercial lenders from rivals across the New York metropolitan region.

The $15.9 billion-asset bank said Thursday that Lisa Etre, William McCarthy and Jessica Ruiz have joined Signature from Hudson Valley Bank (HVB) in Yonkers, N.Y., and that Dennis Sheridan has joined from Valley National Bank (VLY) in Wayne, N.J.

Etre and McCarthy will lead a new team that serves clients at Signature's office in White Plains, N.Y. At Hudson Valley, Etre served small and midsize businesses and McCarthy oversaw client relationships, business development and branch management. Ruiz will serve as a senior client associate alongside Etre and McCarthy, with whom she worked at Hudson Valley.

Sheridan joins one of Signature's private client groups in Manhattan, where he served primarily law firm and real estate clients for 25 years in Valley National's Midtown branch.

"The fact these professionals were drawn to Signature Bank from institutions we have not previously recruited from is indicative of the bank's broader and growing acceptance across the metro N.Y.-area's banking marketplace," Joseph J. DePaolo, Signature's chief executive, said in a news release.

Signature has revved up its lending recently. The company reported average loans of $7.7 billion in the second quarter, up 31% from a year earlier.
