Signature Bank in N.Y. Hires HSBC Private-Banking Team

Signature Bank (SBNY) in New York City has lured a group from HSBC as it continues its private-banking push.

The $18.3 billion-asset company has hired three HSBC bankers to serve clients in Brooklyn, it said Wednesday. They will work from the Signature office in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

It has named Leon Kratsberg and Gary Shulevich senior vice president and group director, and Deborah Raffone senior client associate. All three join from HSBC's branch in in nearby Bensonhurst.

Their appointment "marks the seventh team we've added in the first half of the year and the tenth private client banking team we now have based in Brooklyn, serving this growing marketplace," said President and Chief Executive Joseph DePaolo in a news release.

Last month, Signature announced that it had hired a private-banking team from Citigroup (NYSE:C) to work out of its office in Westchester County. In March, it announced that it had hired eight Citi bankers to run two other private banking groups.
