Superior Bancorp of Birmingham, Ala., and Heartland Payment Systems Inc. have formed a joint marketing agreement offering their payments and banking services to businesses.
Under the agreement, announced last week, Heartland, of Princeton, N.J., will provide its payment card processing capabilities, payroll, and check management services. Superior will offer checking accounts, lending, and cash management services.
The companies plan to market the financial products as a combined suite, though each will handle customer service for its own offerings.
The $3 billion-asset Superior has 75 branches in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, the markets where it and Heartland plan to market their services.
Brad Wilson, Heartland's director of bank alliance, said in a press release that his company's "strategy is to partner with community and regional banks," and that the relationship with Superior allows the bank to offer business customers Heartland's "flexible payments processing and payroll systems, while allowing us to offer our customers the banking solutions they need."
