Hanscom Fedreal Credit Union raised over $13,000 for children in need through a holiday raffle. The donation from the credit union based on Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts will provide 52 beds to children across the commonwealth.
Enhancing financial literacy
Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Peach State Federal Credit Union promoted financial literacy thanks to $20,000 provided by the National Credit Union Administration.
Dow Chemical Employees Credit Union rung in the new year with its second annual donation drive. The Midland, Mich.-based credit union assisted local pantries by collecting canned goods and toiletries, among other items.
Feeling the rush
San Diego County Credit Union teamed up with a local radio station to give high school students a special surprise performance. The San Diego institution orchestrated a performance that featured Logan Henderson, who was on Nickelodeon's "Big Time Rush."
Racing for change
Chartway Federal Credit Union in Virginia Beach, Va., served as a sponsor for the J&A Racing's Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon and We Promise Foundation 5K race. Over 2,300 runners attended the event.
For the kids
First Financial Federal Credit Union in Lutherville, Md., sent a $5,000 donation to a local radio station for the Kids Campaign. The campaign will benefit charities in Maryland, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore.
Texas Trust Credit Union employees raised over $1,000 during a 24-hour game-a-thon that was held at its Arlington, Texas, headquarters. The Extra Life game-a-thon raises money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
San Jose, Calif.-based Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union sponsored a teacher recognition celebration for the 23rd year in a row. Thirty-one educators were recognized this year in addition to five teachers who were honored with the STEM Teaching Award.
A personal touch
Altura Credit Union staff hand delivered donations they collected for the Salvation Army's Angel Tree holiday program. Parents were able to pick up the gifts on a distribution day hosted by the Riverside, Calif., credit union.
Fundraising to fight hunger
Alaska USA Federal Credit Union raised over $71,000 that will be distributed to 21 food banks. One of the food banks, Desert Manna, received a $900 check.
The fund will support Community Development Financial Institutions that lend to minority- and women-owned businesses. The Charlotte, N.C., company is the latest big bank to make a large dollar commitment focused on alleviating racial and economic inequality.
